Duke Settles with Virginia $DUK $XLE

U.S. energy company Duke Energy Corp agreed to pay $2.5 million to settle coal ash spill into the Dan River in North Carolina, imposed by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality relating to the 2014.

A pipe broke at a closed Duke coal plant in February 2014 triggered the third-worst coal ash spill in U.S. history.
